On June 18, 2025, Korea’s first Automotive Tech Map Briefing was hosted by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA). As the country’s inaugural initiative to foster an open source-based automotive software ecosystem, the event served as a valuable platform for collaboration among automakers, component suppliers, software companies, and research institutions.
2. Key Industry Messages: A First Step Toward Industry Collaboration and Technological Independence
The event featured participation from NIPA, Hyundai Motor Group, key suppliers, global OEM experts, and others who emphasized the growing importance of open source collaboration in the emerging Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) era. The presentations repeatedly highlighted the need to establish cooperative ecosystems to keep pace with global trends in open source software development.
3. Telechips’ Progress in Building an Open Source-Based Development Platform
During the briefing, Telechips presented its progress in preparing an open source-ready development environment for its embedded platform TOPST. Telechips currently operates its in-house automotive SoC-based boards, including the D3-G, AI-G, and VCP-G models. The company plans to soon launch an SDK for these platforms built on the Yocto Project, enabling open source-based development.
