In February 2025, students from Gachon University participated in an intensive internship program at the TOPST Learning Center. Building upon the experience of the previous cohort, which successfully completed its training in January, this second group seamlessly took over ongoing projects, engaging in more advanced assignments and system testing activities.
1. Internship Kickoff: Project Briefing and Handoff Preparation
The February internship began with a comprehensive handover presentation prepared by the January interns. This structured knowledge transfer allowed the new participants to quickly gain context and understanding of existing projects, enabling them to start their practical training more efficiently and systematically.
2. Training Activities: Evironment Setup, Testing and Document Improvement
Throughout the program, interns focused on setting up software environments for the TOPST D3-G, TOPST AI-G, and TOPST VCP-G platforms. After successfully deploying system images to the boards, they conducted functionality verification tests to ensure system stability.
A significant portion of their work also involved enhancing user documentation. By refining explanations, improving formatting, and updating instructional guides, the interns made the documentation more accessible and easier for new users to follow—especially those encountering the platform for the first time.
3. Sensor Compatibility Enhancement and Pinmap Update for VCP-G
One of the core projects during this internship involved an extensive upgrade of the TOPST VCP-G Arduino Sensor User Guide. To expand compatibility with previously unsupported sensors, the interns reconfigured GPIO pin mappings and updated system settings. As a result, the complete pinmap and user guide were comprehensively revised, allowing developers and makers to utilize a wider range of sensors with the VCP-G board.
4. Closing : Advancing Practical Skills Beyond Theory
Through this internship program, Gachon University students were able to move beyond theoretical knowledge and gain valuable hands-on experience with real-world product development tasks. In addition to contributing directly to the refinement of the TOPST platform and its user guides, the interns achieved meaningful results in a relatively short time, taking one step closer to becoming industry-ready professionals.
