In April 2025, Telechips introduced its next-generation embedded development platform, TOPST, during the AI Semiconductor session of the World IT Show (WIS2025) held at COEX, Seoul. Throughout the exhibition, numerous visitors explored the booth to experience the products firsthand and witnessed live demonstrations showcasing the platform’s capabilities.
1. A Development Platform Built on an Open Ecosystem
TOPST is an embedded development platform powered by Telechips’ proprietary automotive System on Chip (SoC). More than a hardware solution, it is designed as an open platform with scalability across education, research, industrial fields, and mobility systems. The name TOPST, an acronym for Total Open Platform for System development and Training, reflects its mission: to support practical development and hands-on training, bridging theoretical learning with real-world applications.
2. From Hobbyist Boards to Production-ready System
While many single-board computers (SBCs) are designed for educational or DIY purposes, they often fall short in areas such as system reliability, security, long-term operation, and customized configuration—key requirements in B2B project environments. TOPST was developed to address these demands, evolving beyond a prototype tool to become a project-ready platform suitable for direct integration into industrial applications.
3. Key Strengths or TOPST Platform
• High Performance and Reliability with Proven Automotive SoCs
Optimized for tasks such as AI-based perception, precision control, and multimedia processing in real-world environments.
• Practical Utility for Deployment in Industrial Projects
Backed by a domestic manufacturing pipeline, flexible customization options, stable lead times, and robust security features, TOPST meets essential industrial-grade standards.
• Scalability Across Diverse Industries
Designed with a developer-friendly environment, abundant open-source resources, and comprehensive documentation, the platform supports rapid development and scalability.
• Symbol of Technological Independence with a Domestic SoC Base
In a market dominated by foreign solutions, TOPST represents a self-reliant ecosystem based on a domestically developed SoC, contributing to national semiconductor competitiveness.
4. Live Demonstrations and Visitor Feedbacks
At the exhibition, visitors had the opportunity to explore the full range of TOPST products, including real-time demonstrations at the booth. Particular interest was shown in its multimedia processing and sensor expansion capabilities. Many attendees noted that TOPST goes beyond a typical development kit and presents itself as a platform viable for commercial deployment—a view echoed by highly positive feedback on-site.
5. The Road Ahead for TOPST
Encouraged by the strong response and valuable insights gathered during WIS2025, Telechips plans to expand the application scope of TOPST to a broader range of industries. In particular, the platform aims to play a significant role in next-generation fields such as autonomous driving, robotics, and edge computing—areas where the stability of a domestic SoC can make a strategic impact.
TOPST’s recognition at WIS2025 from both industry professionals and the general public marks an important milestone. Telechips remains committed to building new possibilities in collaboration with partners across various sectors, grounded in the performance and reliability demanded by real-world use cases.
